UConn started the game with intensity, as it hammered a shot approximately 25 yards out that was out of senior goalkeeper Saundra Baron’s reach in just 1:37 of play, giving the Huskies a 1-0 advantage.
“UConn is a top team, they’re 10th in the nation RPI. I feel like we had moments where we played well in the game. We don’t have forwards like UConn does and they definitely put us under pressure. They were basically the better team and deserved the win,” head coach Rob Donnenwirth said.
The Huskies’ (11-2, 3-1 AAC) conference’s leading goal scorer in 2014, Rachel Hill, settled a shot to the right of Baron just over the 23rd minute to extend their 2-0 lead.
