East Carolina University has found a new way to impress the high school recruits across the nation with a Pirate Nation twist.
Tuesday was the first day schools were allowed to put their verbal offers in writing to prospective student athletes, and ECU delivered an offer scene across social media. Instead of the original scholarship letter, the Pirates embraced their name and offered high school seniors offer letters on rustic scrolls, sealed with a purple pirate logo. The scrolls incorporate a well-worn look with burnt edges, wax seals and all with an ECU influence. The scrolls recipients instantly took Twitter by storm, gaining attention from ESPNU and ESPN analyst Marty Smith, who praised ECU on its creativity.
