Facing an inconsistent ECU secondary and considering that the Golden Hurricane were the seventh-ranked offense in the country, Tulsa quarterback Dane Evans had to be licking his chops.
Instead, Evans walked off the field throwing for just 288 yards, his lowest yardage total since he played the Pirates last November (199). ECU’s defense turned in its best performance of the season, carrying the Pirates (4-3, 2-1 AAC) to a 30-17 victory over Tulsa (3-3, 0-2 AAC).
“I’ve coached a long time, and for me this was one of the best wins I’ve had as a head coach,” said ECU head coach Ruffin McNeill.
