The first series of home games this season for East Carolina University’s softball team has been, so far, so good, as the Pirates went head to head with Saint Joseph's University, coming away with a win on day two of the Pirate Clash.
ECU walked away with a 3-1 win, extending its win streak to four games. All three runs were scored in the bottom of the third by senior infielder Karlie Smith, redshirt sophomore infielder Tate McClellan and sophomore infielder Kendra Ziemba. SJU pitcher Madison Clark pitched the entire game and walked five ECU batters. Clark faced 31 batters while ECU’s pitcher Erin Poepping faced 21, maintaining the lead.
