The Rock Hill, South Carolina native made it clear that he wanted to be a Pirate as a high school senior because of ECU’s strong recruiting presence and the high possibility of early playing time, though nothing was guaranteed.
“Kirk Doll, he’s no longer with us, he did a great job recruiting, he’s the one who found Corey Seargent, he’s the one who found Colby Gore, and those two guys are as good of corners as we’ve had since I’ve been here,” said defensive backs coach Rick Smith.
Fast forward two years later, and as a true sophomore and a starter, Seargent often appears to be the best cornerback on the field, no matter the team.
