In his first year as the coordinator, replacing the highly-regarded Lincoln Riley, Nichol hasn’t exactly been dealt a good hand. He lost his starting quarterback, and then was asked to teach wide receiver James Summers how to play quarterback in an offense that thrives on the pass.
Still, the Nichol has failed to show much growth in his first year. It was easy for fans to forgive the former quarterback coach after a miscommunication between he and Blake Kemp cost the Pirates a chance to get back into a tough game against Navy, but with the offense regressing late, the coordinator is coming under some deserved fire.
