COLUMN: ECU's coaching staff deserves blame for offensive stumbles

McNeill stood by his team, saying they had no reason to apologize because he wasn’t let down by them at all.

This coach has a special relationship with his players, so it comes as no surprise that he’d respond that way, but he was absolutely right. The players have nothing to apologize for. The responsibility for this loss, and disappointing season, falls mostly on McNeill and the rest of the coaching staff.

Twitter was ablaze as the Pirates offense attempted to move the ball against the Huskies. Accusations that the players weren’t trying, that they didn’t care, were slung about carelessly when they couldn’t be further from the truth.
