East Carolina University head football coach Scottie Montgomery took the blame for the Pirates’ 28-23 loss to NC Agricultural & Technical State University on Monday, its second consecutive loss to an FCS team to open the season.
Montgomery said he thought the defense played much better than it did last season, and that the offense did well at times, but the difference of the game came in the red zone. Montgomery pointed to the turnovers in the red zone and ECU not being able to step up in pressure moments as the difference, and took the blame for it.
