It was about this time last year when Saundra Baron finally felt comfortable as a collegiate soccer player. She felt she was at the right school, protecting the correct net.
Then the UNC Wilmington game happened, and a knee injury suffered during a collision with a UNCW player cost her all but 20 minutes of the rest of her junior season.
Baron is comfortable again as the starting goalie for East Carolina, which is on a three-match win streak and has won consecutive double-overtime games. Up next is tonight’s 7 p.m. home match against UNCW and for Baron, the game naturally brings back memories of her abbreviated 2014 campaign.
