The Daily Reflector After hanging with California on Friday night, East Carolina’s basketball team probably liked its chances to keep it close in Monday’s game at San Diego State, which lost 49-43 to Arkansas Little Rock on Saturday.
The Aztecs had other plans, and the Pirates pulling an upset was not part of them.
SDSU scored the first 16 points of the game, shot a season-best 49.1 percent from the field and rolled to a 79-54 victory over ECU in Viejas Arena late Monday night. The loss — the second most lopsided defeat during coach Jeff Lebo’s tenure with the Pirates — dropped East Carolina to 2-2 as it heads to the Las Vegas Invitational for games on Thursday and Friday.
