East Carolina basketball fans in Greenville could only watch on television as the Pirates pulled an upset at Memphis on Sunday.
Those in attendance for the Temple-ECU game at Minges Coliseum on Wednesday got a first-hand look at what might be a remarkable turnaround for coach Jeff Lebo’s club.
ECU, winless in its first six American Athletic Conference games, got a three-point play from freshman Kentrell Barkley with 1.8 seconds remaining to lift the Pirates over the Owls, 64-61, for their second consecutive league triumph.
“I don’t even think our guys understand what a big win that actually was,” Lebo said after his squad moved to 10-11 overall and 2-6 in league.
