The American Athletic Conference bowl picture is already a crowded one, and a few more bowl-eligible teams could be added to the mix by the end of the week.
Seven AAC teams have achieved the minimum bowl requirement of six wins. Two teams are one victory away in Tulsa, which plays at Tulane on Friday night, and East Carolina, which hosts Cincinnati on Saturday.
The American has seven automatic tie-ins to bowl games. The league champion is also likely to be in a New Year’s Six game — freeing up one of the AAC’s tie-in spots —and if a conference cannot fill all of its bowl tie-ins, an American squad could serve as a replacement.
