Apparently UCLA’s most influential donor is pushing Pitino hard and Pitino wants it. If he actually gets the job, Pitino could be in an interesting situation: he could be hired before the NCAA could (conceivably) issue a show-cause in his case.
However, it’s a long way from a done deal.
The donor, Casey Wasserman, has no influence with the University of California Board of Regents and the UCLA faculty might rebel given what transpired at Louisville.
Even so, no matter what happens with Pitino, props to UCLA for livening things up.
Small potential irony: UCLA sent assistant Denny Crum to Louisville and he revived the program.
