Back in the day, before early entry became such a big deal and most guys actually didn’t have to get a fake ID to get into a bar on the road, players stayed in college for three or four years.
And in 1981, when Mike Krzyzewski was just starting out at Duke, Virginia had Ralph Sampson, Jeff Lamp, Othell Wilson and Jeff Jones while UNC had James Worthy, Sam Perkins, Al Wood and Jimmy Black. Michael Jordan was just a year away from joining the Tar Heels (he wanted to play with Sampson at Virginia but Terry Holland apparently wasn’t sold on him).
