There were some amazing plays in Monday night’s NCAA Tournament games on the men’s side, but the play of the night came in the UConn-Baylor game in the women’s tournament.
With time running down, Baylor’s DiJonai Carrington got the ball on the side of the lane and went up to shoot.
She was guarded by UConn’s Aaliyah Edwards and Olivia Nelson-Ododa and it certainly appeared that Nelson-Ododa hit her elbow. It’s also hard to explain how her momentum changed in the air without being hit, although we should say that officiating is not just tough but also requires a high level of arcane knowledge of the rules that most of us will never begin to get close to.
