YouTube Gold: The NBA’s First Great Big Man

People today, having gotten used to guys like Kevin Garnett, Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo, would have a hard time believing George Mikan.

The first great big man in the NBA, Mikan was 6-10 and 245 and he was tough but he was nothing like what we see today in big men.

He was skilled by the standards of his day though. He could shoot a hook shot with either hand, was a solid rebounder and a good passer.

Most of all he was big and rugged though. He wasn’t afraid to knock people around and there just weren't that many big guys in his day.
