Former Duke star Grayson Allen came to the NBA with some questions about his game. Utah took him with the 21st pick in the 2018 draft and after a modest rookie year, traded him to Memphis.
His first season he averaged just 5.6 ppg and just 11.1 mpg, playing in just 38 games.
Last year, he upped it to 8.7 ppg and 18.9 mpg and played in 38 games in the Covid disrupted season. This year so far, he has played in 36 games and is averaging 10.6 ppg and 24.4 mpg.
In other words, Allen is improving and become more valuable and it was never more true than it was on Wednesday night when he scored 30 points against the Atlanta Hawks, lighting the Hawks up for 17 in the third quarter alone.
