If you haven’t been to Kitty Hawk, if you make that trip you should make it a point to check out the Wright Brothers Memorial. It’s a short walk up a hill and from there you can get an idea of what they saw that day in 1903. That first flight lasted just 12 seconds but those 12 seconds changed history.
Of course, while it made news, not many people saw it.
Some people were lucky enough to be alive then and in 1969, when Neil Armstrong stepped on to the moon.
Now, some people will be able to say they saw the moon landing and also the first flight on another planet as NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter had its first flight Monday (if Elon Musk has his way, we may get to see people land on Mars as well).
