YouTube Gold: Bob Pettit On How The Game Has Changed

Bob Pettit is now 88 and if this video is current, he’s still razor sharp.

Pettit played in the NBA from 1954 to 1965 which means he played against George Mikan , Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain and also against Willis Reed in his rookie year. He was just a few years short of dealing with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

It’s really an interesting span when you think about it.

He talks about his day here and how much more brutal it was. He talks about the East-West rivalry (in his day, the Lakers had moved to LA and the Warriors to San Francisco but the West ended around Detroit otherwise) and how the All-Star Game was much more intense than it is today.
