One of the saddest things to happen to an ACC player (former actually) was the accident that paralyzed Rodney Rogers.
It happened after his NBA career concluded when Rogers was out on an ATV that rolled over.
Before his accident, Rogers, a native of Durham, turned in a highly respectable NBA career. Just 6-7 and 235, he was able to play a sort of prototype Zion Williamson role. He could go inside and could bully just about anyone. He was tremendously strong.
He could go outside too though and had range. Take this game against the Utah Jazz where Rogers hit nine points in nine seconds.
