Isaiah Thomas has gotten a lot of attention since the Michael Jordan documentary “The Last Dance” came out earlier this summer.
He deserves a lot of attention because he was a truly great player, perhaps the finest small guard in the history of the NBA.
However, he was never all that much better than his Detroit backcourt mate, Joe Dumars.
Dumars came out of McNeese State in 1985 and was taken by the Pistons with the #18 pick. Taken ahead of Dumars: Benoit Benjamin, Jon Koncak, Joe Kleine, Ed Pinckney, Keith Lee, Kenny Green, Alfredrick Hughes, Blair Rasmussen, Bill Wennington and Uwe Blab.
