Yesterday, we did a You Tube Gold about the oldest NCAA arenas. Today? Here’s a video featuring all the NCAA arenas.
Some of theme are pretty obscure and it starts at the smallest (USC Upstate) and works its way to Syracuse, the biggest in the land.
What’s impressive is how plain, or at times plain ugly, some of the buildings are. We don't want to single anyone out for looking bad so here are a few of the more interesting ones.
Try to check out Brown’s Pizzitola Sports Center, Radford’s Dedmon Center which looks kind of like a bunker, Abilene Christian’s Moody Coliseum which looks a bit like a flying saucer, Troy’s Trojan Arena, Southern Utah’s America First Event Center which is striking, the Gallagher-Iba Arena at Oklahoma State is surprisingly intimate, Texas’s Frank Erwin Center looks more like a large reformatory (okay, we’ll keep trying to refrain from digs), we’ve always loved Assembly Hall, Wojo has an intriguing building at Marquette, FedEx Forum in Memphis looks like a trampoline from outside and BYU’s Marriott Center looks like nothing if not a mattress, (we’re trying here!
