KANSAS CITY, Mo. – One of the most decorated and celebrated players in Duke history can now call himself a Hall-of-Famer as Jay Williams was announced as a member of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2017 on Wednesday.
Williams is the sixth member of the Duke men’s basketball program to earn induction into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, and the first since Grant Hill in 2014. Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski was enshrined in Kansas City in 2006.
Williams is joined in the eight-man class by Tim Duncan (Wake Forest), Cleo Hill (Winston-Salem State), Scott May (Indiana), Rick Mount (Purdue), Bo Ryan (Wisconsin), Paul Silas (Creighton) and John Stockton (Gonzaga).
