The Duke Blue Devils opened their season with an 81-71 victory over the Coppin State Eagles. Freshman DJ Steward led the Blue Devils in scoring with 24 points while fellow freshman Jalen Johnson led Duke with 19 rebounds and added 19 points of his own. Wendell Moore Jr. and Matthew Hurt added 13 and 12 points respectively in the victory.
