CLEMSON, S.C. – The Duke rowing team finished first in the Varsity Eight and Third Varsity Eight heats to highlight the opening day of the ACC Championship in Clemson, S.C., on Lake Hartwell.
Each of Duke's five boats advanced to its respective Grand Final on Saturday, beginning with the 3V8 at 8:15 a.m.
The 3V8 gave the Blue Devils a strong start on Friday morning, outpacing Syracuse, Miami and North Carolina with a 2-kilometer time of 6:58.277. The V8 crew followed with another victory, clocking a time of 6:35. 016 to narrowly beat out the Orange at 6:35.
