OMAHA, Neb. – Former Blue Devil standout Ashley Twichell competed with the nation’s best in the finals of the women’s 800-meter freestyle Saturday evening to wrap up Duke’s run at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
A 2011 graduate of Duke and current volunteer assistant coach for the Blue Devils, Twichell posted the third-fastest time of the 800 preliminaries with a personal best mark of 8:28.96 Friday morning. She returned to the pool Saturday to go 8:29.85 for fifth place overall. Earlier in the week, Twichell earned a top-12 finish in the 400 freestyle (4:11.
