DURHAM – Grand slams from junior Ana Gold and senior led No. 10 Duke (4-1) to an 18-0 victory over North Dakota State (3-4) in the home opener at Duke Softball Stadium on Wednesday.
Gold and Torres both finished a perfect 3-for-3 on the night while collecting eight and four RBI, respectively. Gold became the first Blue Devil to send out two grand slams in a single game while Torres tallied the first bases-clearing blast of her career.
Duke's pitching staff of graduate transfer Dani Drogemuller, senior Lillie Walker and sophomore Cassidy Curd combined in the circle to limit the Bison to just two hits during the contest.
