The Duke soccer programs have steadily improved recently and started gaining more national recognition. This can be seen in the recent professional soccer league drafts, with one Blue Devil was selected high in the Major League Soccer draft and two players joining the National Women’s Soccer League.
Two Duke Women’s Soccer players will remain teammates in the NWSL after defender/midfielder Christina Gibbons and forward Toni Payne were both drafted by FC Kansas City. Gibbons, a two-time All-American at Duke, was selected No. 5 overall becoming the highest NWSL pick for a Blue Devil.
