NORWALK, Calif. – A handful of Blue Devils were in action Thursday representing the Duke track & field program at the Mt. Sac Relays, highlighted by graduate student Shaun Thompson breaking a 40-year old school record.
Running in the Men’s 10,000-Meter Run Invitational Elite event late Thursday night, Thompson stopped the clock at 28:47.48 to break Robbie Perkins’ Duke record of 28:56.80 set in 1976 by nearly 10 seconds. The Baldwinsville, N.Y., native crossed the line third overall and finished as the top collegiate racer.
“I feel honored to be able to break a 40-year old school record,” Thompson said.
