DURHAM, N.C. – Duke graduate running back Star Thomas was named the ACC Running Back of the Week following Duke's 21-20 comeback victory over North Carolina on Saturday night.
Thomas, a Homer, La., native finished with 166 rushing yards on 30 carries and a touchdown. He added two receptions for 45 yards and a score. Thomas gained 122 of his 166 ground yards after intermission against the Tar Heels, including 78 in the fourth quarter, as Duke erased deficits of 17-0 at halftime and 20-0 in the third quarter.
On Saturday, Thomas caught a 29-yard pass for a touchdown in the third quarter and scooted two yards on the ground for another score in the fourth quarter to become the first Blue Devil with a rushing and receiving score in the same game since Mataeo Durant against Northwestern on September 18, 2021.
