North Carolina has been blessed to have an amazing amount of basketball talent. Just think about it for a minute: David Thompson, James Worthy, Dominique Wilkins, John Lucas, Jerry Stackhouse, Brandon Ingram, Danny Manning, Brad Daugherty, Kenny Dennard, Bobby Jones, Robert Brickey, David West, Chris Paul - you could go on and on.
Heck, Rocky Mount is a city of less than 60,000 and it produced Phil Ford and Buck Williams, two of the best ACC players ever and guys who had significant NBA careers (although Ford’s was cut short by alcoholism).
So it’s no surprise that guys like Rod Griffin, Cedric Maxwell, Wilmington’s CJ Brice and Charlotte’s Keyshawn Woods (the last two are now at State and Wake Forest respectively) don’t get offers from the three Triangle schools, or at least not initially.
