DURHAM – Graduate student Wil Hoyle went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles to lead Team Hoyle to capture the Fall World Series title with a 6-2 win over Team Crabtree on Tuesday evening at Jack Coombs Field.
Team Crabtree took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning, but Team Hoyle utilized a five-run fourth inning to win 6-2.
Hoyle's multi-hit performance led the team to out-hit Team Crabtree 9-4.
Sophomore Josh Allen earned the win on the bump for Team Hoyle, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out three in 2.
