Back in July, the Duke basketball coaches were showing some interest in Dematha Catholic (Md.) center Hunter Dickinson. At the time, though, their top priority was chasing after five-star 7-footer Walker Kessler.
And with the heavy pursuit of Kessler no secret and no offer from Mike Krzyzewski and his staff, it’s no surprise that Dickinson did not include Duke among his seven finalists: UNC, Florida State, Notre Dame, Purdue, Louisville, Michigan, and Providence.
But when one door shuts — Kessler surprised insiders by suddenly committing to UNC over Duke on Sunday — another one always opens.
