CHEKHOV, Russia – With victories Friday in the 2015 FIBA World Championship, Duke University future teammates Azurá Stevens and Angela Salvadores will face off Saturday in the semifinals for the chance to advance to the gold medal game Sunday in Chekhov, Russia.
Salvadores, who is a native of Leon, Spain, helped lead Spain to a 70-66 victory over previously unbeaten Belgium Friday morning. The guard registered 21 points, six steals, six assists and one rebound in 40 minutes of action. Salvadores hit 8-of-16 field goals in the game.
With a 93-45 romp of Canada, Stevens and the USA squad remained undefeated through five games.
