DURHAM, N.C.— Duke rising sophomore Azurá Stevens was named to the 2015 USA Basketball Women’s U19 World Championship Team Sunday following three days of trials. The 6-5 wing from Raleigh, N.C., stopped by campus this week, after returning from Colorado Springs, Colo., and sat down with the Blue Devil Network to talk about being named to the team.
It will be her first experience representing USA Basketball, after missing the cut for the U18 National Team last year. The USA team will regroup for training June 30-July 7 at the USOTC prior to traveling to Alicante, Spain, to compete in a round-robin tournament July 11-13 against U19 national teams from Australia, Canada and Spain prior to arriving in Russia for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship.
