CHEKHOV, Russia – Duke University sophomore Azurá Stevens collected 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals in 27 minutes as the USA Basketball Women’s U19 World Championship Team downed Russia, 78-70, to claim the gold medal in front of a packed full arena in Chekhov, Russia.
“Amazing,” commented Stevens following winning the gold medal. “When the clock was ticking down, I was just so elated with emotions and couldn’t even contain it. I was so excited. It is just awesome, especially winning a gold medal with this team. This whole journey has been awesome.
