DURHAM, N.C. – A Blue Devil claimed ACC Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week and sixth time on the season Tuesday, as redshirt goalkeeper Sammi Steele was tabbed the conference’s defensive player of the week.
Steele collected the accolade for the fifth time in her career after anchoring an outstanding defensive showing by fourth-ranked Duke at No. 10 Louisville Friday night. The Blue Devil defensive unit held the Cardinals without a shot until the 61st minute and Steele made two saves in the second overtime period to prevent a game-winning goal.
