DURHAM, N.C. – With official play on the diamond still a year away, the Duke softball team went searching for an alternate activity to serve as a substitute for the lack of this spring’s competitive game action. The Blue Devils found an answer with Saturday’s Azalea Sprint Triathlon in Wilmington, N.C.
After weeks of training, the team will participate in the Women’s Novice division tomorrow morning, and the schedule includes a 300-yard swim, nine-mile bicycle ride and 5K run.
The race – presented by Carolina Sports Medicine and the first competition of the year in the AAA Car Care North Carolina Triathlon Series – will take place on the campus of UNC Wilmington.
