COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – Graduate student Steven Solomon represented Duke in the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 400m this evening at Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M.
Competing in the fourth of four heats, Solomon opened the race with a time of 21.79 over the first 200m, putting him in second halfway through the race. The Sydney, Australia native followed with a split of 24.47 over the final 200m to take the lead and win his heat with a time of 46.26.
“Steven went out and won his heat at the NCAA meet and we’re very proud of him,” said director of track and field Norm Ogilvie “He’s clearly the best 400m runner ever at Duke and we’re looking forward to the outdoor season.
