ROLAND, Ark. -- Duke senior Alex Smalley was strong for Team USA in the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup, going 3-1 in his matches, but Team International claimed the cup with a 33.5-26.5 victory Sunday at the Alotian Golf Club in Roland, Ark.
Team International won five of the first six points on Sunday, and held off a Team USA charge – that included Smalley’s 2-up victory over Takumi Kanaya – to reclaim the Palmer Cup by winning 13 of the 24 points on Sunday.
Duke’s Ana Belac finished off the win for the Internationals with her dominant 6&5 victory, allowing Team International to win for the first time since 2016 and halt back-to-back wins by Team USA.
