DURHAM, N.C. – Head Coach Marissa Young of Duke softball concludes her six-player 2019 fall signing class with Florida native, Kelly Torres.
Torres, a catcher and third baseman, has played at American Heritage High School in Plantation, Fla., under head coach Marty Cooper since sixth grade. Over the past few years, Torres has helped the program to two 6A State Championships while finishing in second two years.
As a freshman, Torres produced a .409 batting average and a .636 slugging percentage with seven runs batted in. Torres had another strong season at the plate during her sophomore campaign, racking up 25 RBI while hitting .
