PALM CITY, Fla. – Freshman Ian Siebers carded back-to-back rounds in the 60s to lead the Duke men's golf team on the first day of the Valspar Collegiate at The Floridian GC in Palm City, Fla.
Paced by Siebers at 4-under 138 and senior Qi wen Wong at 2-under 140, the Blue Devils are 3-over and in ninth place, but just 11 strokes out of the top five on a tightly-packed leaderboard. Tuesday's final round begins at 8:30 a.m.
Siebers had it rolling from the start, birdieing three of his first seven holes in Monday's first round then rolling in an eagle on the par-5 13th to get to 5-under through eight holes.
