DURHAM, N.C. – The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted Duke signee Sam Siani with the 37th overall pick in the 2019 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft Monday.
Siani headlines Duke’s 12-member recruiting class in 2019. The Glendale, Pa., native is a four-year letterwinner at William Penn Charter, earning all-league honors all four seasons of his prep career. This past season, Siani hit .457 in 32 games, with eight doubles, nine triples, six home runs, 25 RBIs and 16 stolen bases in final high school campaign. The 6-0 lefty has hit .300 better across all four prep seasons.
