ARLINGTON, Texas – Duke left-hander Jonathan Santucci was selected on Sunday as the MLB First-year Player Draft began in Arlington. Santucci becomes the first Blue Devil selected on day one of the MLB Draft since Bryce Jarvis was taken in the first round by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2020.
Santucci, a left-handed pitcher from Leominster, Mass., was drafted in the second round with the No. 46 overall pick by the New York Mets. With the selection on Monday, Duke's total of selections in the MLB Draft moves to 97 all-time and 42 under head coach Chris Pollard.
