DURHAM, N.C. – Senior Maddie Rusch of the 22nd-ranked Duke women’s swimming and diving team was selected the Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week Wednesday. Rusch garnered the accolade after turning in an outstanding showing in a dual meet victory over South Carolina Saturday.
With the 167-133 win over the Gamecocks, the Blue Devil women improved to 5-1 on the season.
Rusch started off Saturday’s meet by anchoring Duke’s 200-yard medley relay to a first-place finish. Along with relay teammates Mickayla Hinkle, Ashleigh Shanley and Alyssa Marsh, Rusch helped clock a Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion record at 1:40.
