DURHAM, N.C. - Duke men's cross country freshman Sam Rivera was named ACC Freshman of the Year for his finish at the ACC Championship last Friday in Blacksburg, Va.
Rivera placed 37th out of 127 with a time of 25:16.4 and was the first true freshman to cross the finish line on the 8k Buford Meredith Cross Country Course. Rivera becomes the first Duke men's cross country ACC Freshman of the Year. The Blue Devils finished seventh out of 15 schools with 162 points.
