Here are some reactions to the ACC proposal for an open tournament in 2021. The ACC area reactions are mostly at the top while others are below. Notable: the San Diego paper sees it as a cynical power play while Kentucky.com’s John Clay, somewhat surprisingly, says he’s okay with it.
One thing to keep in mind: this may be a strategic opening gambit. The goal may not be to get all eligible teams in the field (that would be 346 teams) but rather to open discussions on ways to leverage March and April for the NCAA and member schools to recoup some losses.
