DURHAM, N.C. – A seventh inning rally fell just short for the Duke Blue Devils (9-13, 0-1 ACC) on Friday, as they dropped the series opener to the North Carolina Tar Heels (10-8, 1-0 ACC), 4-2, at the Duke Softball Stadium.
Duke strung together three hits to plate a run in the seventh, leaving runners at second and third with one out remaining. Deja Davis drove in Jazmine Moreno to cut the UNC lead to 4-2 before the Tar Heels produced a fly-out and groundout to secure the win.
