SAO PAULO, Brazil — Duke University senior Rebecca Quinn won her first career Olympic medal Friday as her Canada Women’s National Team defeated host Brazil, 2-1, in the bronze medal match played at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
It marked the second consecutive bronze medal for Canada at the Women’s Olympic Tournament.
Canada got on the board in the first half as Ashley Lawrence made an 80-yard run from her own penalty area all the way to Brazil’s, before looking up to find Deanne Rose 10 yards from the goal-line. Rose received the pass and gave Canada a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute.
