BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil — For the second straight Olympics, the Canada Women’s National Team fell in the semifinals as the squad dropped a 2-0 decision to Germany Tuesday at Estádio Mineirão in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Duke University senior Rebecca Quinn did not see action in the match. Canada will next take on host Brazil in the Bronze Medal match Friday, Aug. 19 at 12 p.m., in São Paulo at the Arena Corinthians. In the 2012 Olympics, Canada claimed the Bronze medal so it will be looking for a second straight medal.
In their second encounter in just one week, Germany got on board early in the match as Kadeisha Buchanan of Canada fouled Germany’s Alexandra Popp, which gave the Germans a penalty kick opportunity.
